Got a
question?
Near-instant. The NFC tap itself takes a fraction of a second — your network speed determines how quickly the page loads after that.
NFC stands for Near Field Communication — a wireless technology built into virtually all modern smartphones. When someone taps a TAP8 product against their phone, it instantly opens a webpage. No app. No QR code. No Bluetooth. No login. Just tap, and the page opens. We program each product to open the URL you choose — a menu, a business profile, a Google review page, or anything else.
Nothing at all. They simply hold their phone near the product and it opens automatically. On iPhones (iOS 13+), NFC reads happen in the background — no settings needed. On Android, NFC must be switched on (Settings → Connections → NFC), which it is by default on most devices.
Compatible with:
- iPhone 7 and above running iOS 13 or newer
- Most Android phones from 2015 onward with NFC enabled
- Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Huawei, and most major brands
Older iPhones (6s and below) do not support NFC. Very thick phone cases may reduce reliability — tap near the top-rear of the phone where the NFC antenna sits.
The tap itself requires no internet. The NFC chip simply triggers the phone to open a URL. However, the phone needs Wi-Fi or mobile data to load the destination webpage. The chip has no battery, no connectivity requirement of its own, and never expires.
Yes. Simply contact us and we will update the destination URL for your product anytime. No reprinting or replacing the physical product needed. Changed your menu? Updated your booking page? Rebranded? Just let us know and we'll update the link — the card stays the same.
Submit an enquiry through our contact form with the product you're interested in, the quantity, and any customisation details. We'll respond within 1–2 business days with a quote and next steps. For B2B bulk orders, we'll confirm all specifications before production begins.

We offer a 3-month replacement guarantee on manufacturing defects from the date of delivery. If your product stops working through no fault of your own within that period, we'll replace it for free — no questions asked. This is on top of your rights under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, which provides further protections we cannot take away from you. View our full Returns Policy and Terms & Conditions.
Because most products are custom-made to your specifications, we cannot accept returns for change of mind. However:
- Manufacturing defect → replaced free under our 3-month guarantee
- Your Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 rights always apply regardless
Email support@tap8.co.nz with your order number and we'll respond within 3 business days.
The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986 protect all NZ consumers. Our products must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, and match their description. These rights exist regardless of our Terms and cannot be contracted away for personal consumer purchases. If we can't resolve a dispute, you can contact Consumer Protection NZ (consumerprotection.govt.nz) or the Disputes Tribunal.
No. Tapping a TAP8 product simply opens a webpage on your phone — exactly like clicking a link. You are not asked to enter your name, email, phone number, or any other personal details. TAP8 only records an anonymous tap count and timestamp (e.g. "this product was tapped 12 times today"). No device ID, no location, no personal identification of any kind.
The webpage that opens after a tap is chosen and managed by the product owner (our customer) — not by TAP8. If that webpage asks for your details (e.g. a business enquiry form), that is between you and that business, governed by their own privacy policy.
When you place an order, we collect your name, email address, delivery address, and any profile content or customisation details you provide (e.g. the URL you want your card to open, your business name for engraving). We use this to fulfil your order, manage your product profile, and provide support. We do not sell your data. See our full Data Protection Policy for details.
Yes. Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020, you can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by emailing support@tap8.co.nz with the subject "Privacy Request". We respond within 20 working days. Some records (financial/order data) are retained for 7 years to meet Inland Revenue requirements. Deleting your account will deactivate your linked NFC profile.
Yes — for business orders above a certain volume, we can arrange a sample. Email support@tap8.co.nz to discuss. Sample pricing and lead times vary by product type and customisation.
We're open to reseller and distribution conversations, particularly for the hospitality, real estate, and events sectors in NZ. Email support@tap8.co.nz with "Reseller Enquiry" in the subject line.
